A Refined Mission. A Broader Reach. The Same Heart.

At Golden Gap Foundation, our work has always been simple and focused:

Close the temporary financial gap that prevents vulnerable individuals from accessing long-term care they already qualify for.

Over the past year, through hands-on experience serving seniors and working closely with assisted living communities, care providers, and families, we’ve seen something clearly:

The “gap” is real.
And it affects more than we first realized.

Today, we are proud to formally announce our Refined Unified Mission:

Golden Gap Foundation bridges short-term financial barriers that prevent low-income seniors and veterans from accessing long-term care benefits they already qualify for.

This refinement does not change who we are.
It clarifies and strengthens our purpose.

Why the Gap Exists

Many seniors and veterans qualify for long-term support programs such as:

  • Utah’s Medicaid New Choices Waiver

  • The VA’s Aid & Attendance benefit

However, qualifying for benefits does not always mean benefits begin immediately.

Applications take time.
Approvals require documentation.
Placement can be delayed.

During that waiting period, individuals still need safe housing and care.

For low-income seniors and veterans, even a short delay can mean:

  • Remaining in unsafe living conditions

  • Relying on exhausted family caregivers

  • Cycling through hospitals

  • Postponing needed assisted living placement

Not because they don’t qualify.
But because they cannot afford the bridge.

Expanding to Support Veterans

As founders with military backgrounds and deep ties to the senior care community, we recognized that low-income veterans face the same financial barrier while waiting for VA Aid & Attendance approval.

The need is aligned.
The solution is the same.

Temporary bridge funding can unlock permanent stability.

By formally including veterans in our mission, we are not changing direction — we are applying the same proven model to those who served our country.

One Mission. Two Programs.

Golden Gap Foundation now operates two focused bridge programs:

1️⃣ Medicaid New Choices Waiver Bridge

Supporting low-income Utah seniors awaiting Medicaid long-term care benefits.

2️⃣ Veterans Aid & Attendance Bridge

Supporting low-income veterans (and qualifying surviving spouses) awaiting VA benefit approval.

In both programs, our approach remains consistent:

  • Short-term assistance

  • Clear eligibility guidelines

  • Dignity-centered support

  • Transition to long-term stability

This is not permanent dependency.
It is temporary stabilization.

Why This Matters

A modest bridge can unlock thousands of dollars in long-term monthly benefits.

A short-term gift can:

  • Prevent unsafe discharge situations

  • Accelerate safe assisted living placement

  • Reduce family crisis

  • Restore dignity

It turns a waiting period into a pathway.

Looking Ahead

As we refine our mission, our commitment deepens:

  • To protect vulnerable seniors

  • To honor veterans

  • To partner with care communities

  • To steward donor support responsibly

The gap is temporary.
The impact is lasting.
