More Than a Fundraiser: What Our Community Made Possible

Over the past several months, we've talked a lot about the gap that exists for seniors and veterans who need care but are temporarily unable to access the financial resources they qualify for.

What we've learned is that while the need is significant, so is the willingness of our community to help.

Our recent Close the Golden Gap Fundraiser brought together healthcare professionals, local businesses, community leaders, families, and supporters from across Utah. While raising funds was an important goal, the evening represented something even more meaningful—it showed what can happen when people come together around a shared purpose.

Throughout the event, we heard stories from individuals who have experienced the challenges of aging firsthand. Families shared concerns about navigating care options, caregivers discussed the pressures they face, and community members expressed a desire to make a difference for seniors who may not have a strong support system.

Those conversations reinforced why this mission matters.

Many seniors qualify for assistance programs that can help cover the cost of long-term care, but there is often a waiting period before those benefits begin. During that time, families are left searching for solutions while trying to ensure their loved ones remain safe and cared for.

Golden Gap Foundation was created to help bridge that temporary gap and provide families with hope when options feel limited.

One of the most encouraging outcomes of the fundraiser wasn't simply the dollars raised—it was the momentum that followed. New partnerships were formed, awareness increased, and more people learned about a challenge that affects families throughout our communities every day.

And there's still an opportunity to help.

Due to the incredible support we've received, our silent auction has been extended through June 9th at 8:00 PM MDT. Supporters can still bid on vacation packages, legal services, sports memorabilia, and other valuable items, with proceeds helping seniors and veterans access the care and housing they need. The fundraiser may be over, but the work continues.

Together, we're creating solutions, strengthening our community, and helping close the Golden Gap—one senior at a time.
